"Ben" comes from Benjamin Hall

Big Ben is 315 feet tall ( 96 m )

It took 34 years to build it.

It was finished June, 31st 1859

The bridge opened June 30th 1894

Its construction started June 21st 1886

It took 8 years to build it.

It is called " Tower Bridge " because of the name of the Tower of London which is located on one side of the bridge.

The Tower of London is very close.

This sort of bridge is called a bascule bridge

11,000 tons of steel were necessary to build it.

The 2 towers are 213 feet high   65 m)
